The Medal was created by a Decree on 8 October 1984 to be awarded to Bulgarian and foreign citizens who had contributed to the development of Bulgarian Trade Unions. The medal has the form of a circle.. Read more » with diameter of 30 mm. It is made of yellow metal.
The averse of the Medal is charged with the effigy of a sickle and a hammer. In the centre of field of the reverse is inscribed: “80 ГОДИНИ”; above it a small five-pointed star; surrounding - the inscription: "РЕВОЛЮЦИОННО ПРОФСЪЮЗНО ДВИЖЕНИЕ В БЪЛГАРИЯ”.
The Medal is worn on the left breast fixed to a small rectangular bearer dressed in red ribbon.
It was made after the project of Stefan Kurtev and was mint at the State Mint, Sofia.
The Medal was cancelled in 1991.
