The Order Red Banner of Labour was instituted on 13 December 1950 by Decree No.649 of the Presidium of the National Assembly. It is unilateral, with only one class.

Read more »r was conferred to Bulgarian and foreign civilians - inventors, innovators, leaders, workers or workers' teams for their great ac- complishments in the public or economic development of the country or for their notable achievements in the state, public, scientific, or cultural life of the country.
The Order is oval, sized 35 x 40 mm. A flying red banner is featured in its center, with the white-lettered inscription: "HPБ". Underneath, on blue background, are crossed a sickle and a hammer; in a circle is a gear- wheel enameled in white and the inscription: "3A COЦИАЛИСТИЧЕСКИ ТРУД". The Order is bordered by wheat-ears separated by a red five-pointed star on the top. All elements, but for the wheat-ears are enamelled. The Order was worn on the left breast, fixed on a pen- tagon bearer dressed in a wine-red ribbon with a white stripe in the middle.
There are two issues of the order:
THE FIRST ISSUE covers the period from 1951 to 1971. By analogy to its preceding order "Red Banner", this one has numbers that are entered in the awarding documents and are marked on the reverse in concave figures. The order is sectional and the center with the inscriptions covered in enamel is attached to the decoration with a screw.
